Tom says: ‘It’s the Rolls Royce of bike computers”

Tom says: ‘It’s the Rolls Royce of bike computers

From daily rides to the ultimate cycling experience with The One, Tom has always had cycling in his blood. In his youth, he would cycle every day from Zevenaar to Arnhem for school. After a few years away from cycling, he got back in the saddle in 2014. The reason? His five-year-old son wanted to start cycling – and not just any cycling, but mountain biking. Determined to share the experience, Tom and his son went to the bike shop and bought their first mountain bike. It quickly became clear that his son had a natural talent. This year, they completed an impressive climb together on the famous La Colombière. A special moment for both of them. In recent years, Tom has clocked over 14,000 kilometers. His rides range from daily commutes to adventurous outings with his son and long group rides with friends. Tom even organizes his own annual “Tour de Tom de Tester,” a 120-kilometer ride through Twente.

Tom’s ultimate cycling companion

Tom isn’t just any cyclist; he’s a true enthusiast with love for innovation. His garage is filled with no less than six bikes: from a gravel bike and road bike to a mountain bike. Cycling is his passion, and the same goes for bike computers. His journey began with a Polar, but over the years, he’s used Wahoo, various Garmin models (Edge 810, 1040, 1030, 1050), and even a Beeline. Today, Tom rides with The One. “The first time I rode with The One, the design immediately stood out. A friend commented on how clear and readable the screen was, and I laughed as he helped me maintain my goal of an average of 29 km/h,” says Tom. After disappointing experiences with other bike computers – like a Wahoo that suddenly showed a speed of 252 km/h or a Garmin that lost navigation in the forest – Tom was looking for something different. Something innovative and unlike any other bike computer. He found that in The One. “The navigation on The One is just much more accurate. Where Garmin tells you to turn right, you actually need to go another 300 meters. I don’t have that issue with The One,” he explains. Tom describes The One as the “Rolls Royce of bike computers.” It all starts with the packaging, which immediately gave him the feeling of unboxing a premium product.

Distraction-free cycling

One of the things Tom particularly appreciates about The One is its minimalist approach: no constant beeps or notifications popping up on the screen. “It helps you focus on what really matters,” he says. That, combined with the user-friendliness and flexibility of the display, is something Tom believes the industry should adopt as a standard. This year, Tom met Team Absolute Cycling in Arnhem. “You’ll never hear me say a bad word about Absolute Cycling’s support,” he concludes with satisfaction.

For Tom, cycling isn’t just a hobby; it’s a way of life. With The One on his handlebars, he enjoys every kilometer even more.
